When it comes to the perfect group gathering, three essentials are a must: atmosphere, great food, and craft beer!
Located near the National Museum of Natural Science, “ABV Bar & Kitchen Mediterranean Bistro – New Concept in Taichung” offers it all — from chic décor and exotic Mediterranean cuisine to a jaw-dropping beer wall featuring over 700 craft beers. It’s one of the most unique bistros in Taichung and a true haven for beer lovers!

Taichung Restaurant Recommendation
ABV Mediterranean Bistro – Taichung is just a 10-minute walk from Calligraphy Greenway, Park Lane by CMP, or the National Museum of Natural Science.
At ABV Bar & Kitchen, beer culture meets gourmet food. You’ll find signature dishes from across the Mediterranean — including Italy, Greece, Spain, and more.

Spanning over 3,500 sq ft, the space is open and inviting.
Industrial-style pendant lights hang from high ceilings, and the warm red brick walls combined with wooden accents give off a cozy yet modern vibe.

As soon as the door opens, you’re greeted with the cheerful buzz of conversations. Whether it’s a family dinner or a friend’s birthday, the energy here instantly puts you at ease.
The restaurant also features multiple TVs streaming live sports, so you can enjoy a match with your meal!

Seating options include standard tables, bar seating with high stools, and a comfy lounge area.
That day, our group of four chose the sofa section — we chatted so long we almost forgot the time. Thankfully, ABV Bar & Kitchen has no time limit for dining!

There’s also a private semi-open room that balances privacy with the restaurant’s fun and vibrant vibe.
It can host 20–25 guests, perfect for office parties or birthday celebrations.

Craft Beer in Taichung
If you’re into craft beer, you have to visit ABV Mediterranean Bistro in Taichung. Their beer selection is absolutely next level!
This is the only restaurant in Taiwan featuring a corridor of over 700 international craft beers, and they rotate 30–40 new beers every week. So even if you’re a regular, there’s always something new to explore.

It’s basically a beer museum — with everything from German, American, English, Belgian beers to Japanese sake and even non-alcoholic options. The selection is incredibly diverse and well-curated.

Beer Prices at ABV Bar & Kitchen
Because the lineup changes weekly, beers aren’t individually priced on the shelf — most are around NT$200–400.
Even if you’re new to craft beer, ABV Bar & Kitchen makes it easy. Their beer sommeliers will recommend beers based on your taste preferences.
They’ll also match each beer with its ideal glass style to help you appreciate the full flavor profile — a super thoughtful detail that elevates the whole experience.

Fun touch: you can flatten your bottle caps with their in-store cap press and keep them as souvenirs!
And every bottle also has a point sticker — collect them for discounts or rewards.

Here are the four beers we tried that day:
Floris White (from Belgium)
A light-bodied white beer with a dense, foamy head. Notes of citrus peel and wheat give it a refreshing character — perfect for balancing out heavier, oil-rich dishes.

Scotch Silly (from Belgium)
Rich, full-bodied, and layered with bold flavors. Slight bitterness and higher alcohol content — great for those who love a more intense drinking experience.

Tucher Urfränkisch Dunkel (from Germany)
A classic dark wheat beer from Germany. Surprisingly light despite its color, with fine, creamy foam. Subtle coffee and caramel notes make it a great choice for those seeking depth without heaviness.

Eggenberg Radler Naturtrüb (from Austria)
A mix of beer and elderflower lemon soda — bright, floral, and citrusy with very low bitterness. It’s like a beer-lemonade hybrid! Ideal for summer or anyone who prefers a mild, easy-to-drink option.

Mediterranean Restaurant in Taichung
“ABV Bar & Kitchen Mediterranean Bistro – New Concept in Taichung” truly captures the richness and diversity of Mediterranean cuisine, all while highlighting the natural flavors of quality ingredients.
From Spanish tapas and Italian risotto to Turkish grilled meats and Greek-style salads, every dish is made to order, not mass-produced from a central kitchen — and it really shows in the flavor.
Salami Platter – NT$180
One of ABV’s classic cold tapas and the perfect beer pairing snack.
Each slice of salami is marbled with fat, giving it a beautiful texture and rich balance of smoky aroma, saltiness, and spice.

The meat is firm yet not dry — and the more you chew, the more flavor is released.
Chickpea Fritters with Caesar Salad – NT$300
A creative fusion of a classic Caesar salad and Middle Eastern falafel.

Crisp romaine lettuce forms the fresh, crunchy base. The chickpea fritters are made from mashed chickpeas blended with Middle Eastern spices, formed into golden-brown balls and deep-fried to perfection.

Each bite is a delicious contrast: crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside, with fragrant spice notes that pair beautifully with the refreshing salad.
Fried Chicken Wings – NT$300
These wings are marinated in Mediterranean spices and fried until golden and crispy. The meat is incredibly tender and juicy.

Paired with the signature Buffalo wing sauce on the side, you get a hit of creamy heat with a tangy kick.

Each wing is flavorful on its own, but the sauce adds extra layers of richness — dangerously addictive when paired with a cold beer.
Smoked Salmon & Broccoli Tortilla – NT$340
A Spanish favorite resembling a thick, fluffy omelette.

This tortilla española arrives golden and steaming hot, with a soft, moist interior. You’ll get perfectly balanced bites of creamy potato, savory smoked salmon, eggs, and crisp bell peppers.

Already flavorful on its own, but the side of garlic mayo takes it to the next level — creamy, garlicky, and unforgettable.
Margherita Pizza – NT$280
Topped with fresh mozzarella, juicy tomato slices, and basil leaves, this pizza keeps things simple and pure.

The crust is thin and crisp, while the melted cheese and tomato create a perfect balance of richness and freshness.

That cheese pull was so irresistible, I ended up eating several slices myself!
Classic Seafood Paella – NT$480
The paella is cooked in a traditional flat iron pan and infused with the rich flavors of homemade seafood broth.
This broth — made from shrimp shells, fish bones, and spices — gives the rice a deep, savory taste.

The texture is spot-on: tender with just the right bite. Topped with plump shrimp and fresh mussels, this dish is both comforting and indulgent.
Spicy Shrimp with Anchovy – NT$320
One of ABV’s greatest hot tapas — and my personal favorite.
Though the shrimp may seem like the star, the true soul of this dish lies in the anchovy at the center. As it sizzles in garlic and chili-infused olive oil, the anchovy releases a rich, umami-packed flavor that transforms the whole dish.

Each bite delivers layered intensity: the sweet shrimp, the savory anchovy, and the lingering garlic-chili finish.

Be sure to dip the bread in the sauce — it’s addictive! (Bonus: the bread is free and refillable!)

Sujuk – Homemade Turkish Sausage with Pita & Greek Tzatziki – NT$340
This was my first time trying Turkish-style beef kofta, and it blew me away!

The sausage is hand-shaped from ground beef mixed with Turkish sausage, Middle Eastern spices, and green chili. Grilled to a slight char, it’s packed with juices and savory aroma.

Pair it with the cooling Greek tzatziki and warm pita bread — a satisfying and flavorful combination that’s filling without being heavy.
Greek Style Honey Spiced Pork Skewers – NT$380
If you enjoy sweet-savory profiles, this dish is a must-try!
The pork is marinated in a blend of honey and Mediterranean spices, then grilled at high heat to caramelize the surface. Each bite delivers a gorgeous mix of sweetness, spice, and juicy pork flavor.

The thick pork chunks are accompanied by roasted vegetables — a dish that radiates sunshine and warmth, just like the Mediterranean coast.

Croatian Pudding Cake – NT$220
The appearance was plain, but the taste? Mind-blowing.
This Croatian-style dessert is a frozen blend of vanilla cream and pudding, sandwiched between layers of flaky mille-feuille pastry. It has a texture like ice cream with a crispy crust.

Light, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced with vanilla and caramel aromas — it’s the perfect dessert to end your meal on a refreshing note.
