In this bustling city, we often find ourselves pursuing those small and beautiful moments.
A few nights ago, while strolling in Taichung PARK2 Caowu Square with friends and enjoying outdoor music performances, we discovered a low-key yet tasteful sign: “Petit Petit – Coffee & Bar”.
“Petit Petit” means “little” in French. Curiously, we followed the gravel path inside, and even though it was just a short walk, there was a sense of anticipation building within us.

Environment of “Petit Petit – Coffee & Bar”
After passing through the path, we entered the main area of the restaurant. The secluded location away from the hustle and bustle of the square creates a tranquil little haven.
“Petit Petit – Coffee & Bar” has both indoor and outdoor seating areas, predominantly designed with a simple and textured style. Though the number of seats is limited, the space is comfortably arranged.
Entering the indoor seating area, the eye is immediately drawn to the atmospheric central bar. The combination of white and green tiles with dark green metal high stools presents a retro and nostalgic style.
Particularly eye-catching is the massive stone pillar that runs through the tabletop. Every edge of the pillar exudes a unique artistic beauty, and the clever lighting design makes it appear like a piece of art.
The indoor seating area with square tables is adorned in a calm emerald green, complemented by wooden paneling. Each table is adorned with glass candle holders, and the faint candlelight permeates the air, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
The circular seating area is complemented by elegant pendant lights, coupled with dark green sofas, creating a sophisticated and vintage atmosphere that’s perfect for photography. When pulling the curtains on both sides, it feels like being in a private compartment.
The goose-yellow lighting and jazz music in the background involuntarily immerse people in a cozy atmosphere.
Food & Wine at “Petit Petit – Coffee & Bar”
■ Two-tone Pork Hock Rice NT$320
(Pork Hock/ Peanut & Chili Paste / King Oyster Mushroom)
The pork hock is cut into small, easy-to-eat pieces. The chewy pork skin, rich in collagen, looks enticing after being seared at high temperatures. The sauce used for braising the pork is a flavorful and appetizing combination of peanut and chili sauce.
■ Quintessential Hamburger with Stinky Tofu NT$280
(Stinky Tofu/ Minced Stead/ Greens / Homemade Red Miso with Apple)
A hamburger steak with a crispy outer layer, reminiscent of stinky tofu, offers a unique experience. The sauce, made with Japanese miso and fresh apple juice, adds a multi-layered flavor profile of sweet, sour, and salty notes.
■ Fried Chichen with Okra and Yam NT$350
(Chicken / Okra/ Yam/ Homemade 3-cup Sauce)
In this classic Taiwanese-style fried chicken, besides being coated with the aromatic 3-cup sauce, there’s a unique twist – the white sprinkling on the fried chicken isn’t the usual garlic but instead refreshing and crisp shreds of yam and okra! Paired with the fried chicken, it offers a particularly refreshing and palate-cleansing experience.
■ Allspice Rice Cake with Mullet Roe NT $180
(Mullet Roe, Glutinous Rice Cake, 8-spice Powder, Dried Seaweed)

■ Cocktail-Tea Ikigai NT$300
(Vodka/ Sencha/ White Wine/ Mango)

The white wine and vodka intertwine, creating a balanced mouthfeel. There’s not an overwhelming amount of spiciness; instead, there’s just the right amount of alcohol stimulation. Upon tasting, a subtle tea fragrance blooms in the mouth.
The addition of mango brings a hint of fruity aroma to the entire cocktail. The mango flavor is not overpowering; it subtly adds a touch of sweetness and fragrance, enhancing the overall smoothness of the drink.
■ Cocktail-Drunk Earl Grey NT$300
(Vodka/ Cranberry/ Blueberry/ Earl Grey Tea/ Vermouth/ Apple)
***Do not drink and drive. Persons under 18 years old should not consume alcohol.
The addition of vermouth, with its sweet, bitter, and aromatic notes, adds layers to the pure texture of vodka. The inclusion of Earl Grey tea brings a subtle tea aroma to the entire cocktail, creating a gently fragrant experience on the palate. Blueberry and apple slices introduce texture variations to the drink, and when enjoyed with the fruit, each sip bursts with fruity flavors.
